Crispin Cottage

Rustic Charm and Relaxation

Hendy Woods Park

A favorite for short hikes, picnics, or Navarro River access. There is a day fee of $10 per car except on Federal Holidays. A beautiful example of old growth redwood stands with other mixed forests and shrubs.  Approximately 5-7 minutes away from the cottage, turn right on the Greenwood Road and cross the Greenwood Bridge.  Hendy is on the left.

Navarro Beach

A once lively logging port and now a popular beach. Follow Highway 128 through the redwoods all the way west to its end, approximately 20 minutes. Turn left and cross the bridge and the dirt road leading to the beach will be on your right. The old Inn is still there. Once called Navarro By the Sea and still an active bar and restaurant when I was a child, it is now maintained as a historical landmark with artifacts and pictures of how that place used to look and be. A perfect escape from the hot summer days in the valley.

Indian Creek County Park

A short walk away from the cabin. We can show you the old driveway leading down to Indian Creek Road, then it's just up to and across the highway. There are short hiking trails and access to the creek. Our guests can go wading or with the more rain we've had, there may even be a deep enough spot to take a dip on a hot summer day.

 Navarro River

As you head to Hendy or up the Greenwood Road for any reason, you'll cross the Greenwood Bridge. You'll see many cars parked along the road there in the summer from folks going down to the river for relief from the heat. The river changes from year to year, but a walk up or down will surely find a place deep enough to swim, and it even be secluded.

Faulkner Park

A drive up the curvy Mountain View (or Manchester) Road, a left turn just as you leave Boonville Town, will take you after a few short miles to small Faulkner Park. A shady place to picnic or walk short trails among the redwoods.
